These Mouthwatering Rosé Cocktails Are Perfect For Summer Sipping

Jamie Evans, The Herb Somm's Rosé Cocktail Drinks, Author of The Ultimate Guide to CBD: Explore the World of Cannabidiol

Whether you prefer still or sparkling, rosé is a fantastic ingredient to work with when preparing summer cocktails. With crisp acidity paired by soft aromas and flavors, the characteristics of rosé blend seamlessly into drinks while contributing a beautiful pink hue.

If you’re craving an insanely refreshing cocktail, here are two recipes that you can make at home using rosé wine. For blended drinks, it’s best to use still wine, but for mixed drinks over ice, sparkling rosé provides the perfect bubbles to liven up a beverage on your palate.

For the following recipes, I was lucky enough to use two rosé wines sourced from Australia as part of Vino Vinyasa Yoga’s "Rosé & Namaste" virtual happy hour hosted on June 26th, 2020 in collaboration with Derrick C. Westbrook and Winebow. I highly recommend purchasing Yalumba ‘The Y Series’ Sangiovese Rosé 2019 and Jansz Tasmania Premium Sparkling Rosé for these recipes since the cocktails were created to complement the wine’s profile. Enjoy and cheers!

Watermelon Frosé

Servings: 1

Equipment:

Blender or food processor

Fine-mesh strainer

16-ounce Mason jar

Ice cube tray

Coupe glass

Ingredients:

Watermelon Juice

½ seedless watermelon

Watermelon Frosé

5 watermelon ice cubes

1 ounce fresh-squeezed lime juice

Garnish with your choice of fresh edible flowers or a lime wheel

**Optional: To enhance this drink with CBD, when preparing the cocktail, add 1 dropperful (or your preferred dose) of your favorite unflavored CBD tincture into the blender, then follow the directions as noted.**

Note: When creating the watermelon juice for this recipe, keep in mind that half of a small seedless watermelon yields about 14 ounces of juice once the pulp has been removed.

Directions:

⁣Cut the watermelon in half, then add the watermelon flesh into the bottom of a blender or food processor. Purée for 1 minute or until the watermelon chunks turn into juice. Using a fine-mesh strainer, separate the pulp from the juice over a 16-ounce Mason jar. Discard the pulp and then set the Mason jar aside.

Begin to measure out the watermelon juice, one ounce at a time, to fill as many molds in the ice tray as possible. Place into the freezer and let chill overnight.

The next day, remove the ice tray from the freezer and place 5 watermelon ice cubes (or 5 ounces of frozen watermelon juice) into a blender. Add the Yalumba ‘The Y Series’ Sangiovese Rosé and the fresh-squeezed lime juice, then purée on high until smooth. Pour the Watermelon Frosé into a chilled Coupe glass. Garish with your choice of fresh edible flowers or a lime wheel, then enjoy immediately.

Servings: 1

Equipment:

Stemless Wine Glass

Muddler

Bar Spoon

Ingredients:

3 - 4 fresh raspberries

3 - 4 fresh blackberries

Cubed Ice

2 ounces Aperol

Top with club soda

Dash of Angostura Aromatic Bitters

Fresh summer berries and orange slices for garnish

**Optional: To enhance this drink with CBD, when preparing the cocktail, add 1 dropperful (or your preferred dose) of your favorite unflavored CBD tincture on top of the fruit before muddling, then follow the directions as noted.**

Directions:

Add the berries into the bottom of a stemless wine glass. Using a muddler, muddle the berries until the juices are released, then fill the wine glass with ice cubes until it’s about halfway full. Add the Aperol followed by Jansz Tasmania Premium Sparkling Rosé. Next, top the drink with club soda and add a dash of Angostura Aromatic Bitters. Using a bar spoon, gently stir the ingredients together, then add a few fresh summer berries and orange slices for garnish. Enjoy!
