Fast And Easy Cannabis-Infused Honey

Creating cannabis-infused honey at home is a fantastic way to incorporate cannabinoids into a number of foods and beverages. As one of the most easily digested forms of carbohydrates, honey is also considered a prime vehicle to deliver herbal medicine. Honey enters directly into the bloodstream, providing almost instantaneous effects. And when combined with cannabis, honey is the optimal partner to transport the many health-giving benefits that help balance the body.

For beverage lovers, if you’re a fan of hot drinks, smoothies, or shakes, having infused honey on hand is a reliable way to mix CBD and THC into a variety of recipes. To create your own, all you need are a few essential ingredients: an unflavored cannabis oil or tincture (or full-spectrum hemp oil), honey, and optional liquid sunflower lecithin to help prevent the oil from separating out. Simply blend the ingredients together, and voilà! You’ve made your own cannabis-infused honey.

Ready to give it a try? Whether you want to mix the honey into a drink or simply eat it with a spoon (which I do on a regular basis), follow the easy-to-make recipe below and enjoy!

Fast And Easy Cannabis-Infused Honey

A recipe from my latest book, Cannabis Drinks

Yield: 1 cup (340 g)

Target Dose: about 5 mg THC | < 1 mg CBD per teaspoon or your preferred dose (using commercially made THC/CBD oil or tincture of your choice)

Equipment:

Measuring spoons

Measuring cups

Blender

One 8-ounce (240-ml) sterilized Mason Jar

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon (15 ml) unflavored full-spectrum hemp or cannabis oil of your choice (240 mg THC | 30 mg CBD or your preferred dose)

1 cup (340 g) honey

1 teaspoon liquid sunflower lecithin (optional)

Directions:

Add the full-spectrum cannabis oil, honey, and liquid sunflower lecithin (if using) to a blender. Blend on high for a couple of minutes, then empty the infused honey into an 8-ounce (240-ml) Mason jar. Seal tightly, then let your infused honey settle for 24 hours, giving it a good stir before serving. If separation occurs over time, re-emulsify by blending the honey again or vigorously mixing with a spoon.

*Note: If you’re using THC oil with this recipe (versus hemp oil), it's incredibly important to calculate the estimated dose per serving and use a teaspoon to precisely dose. You can also infuse honey using decarboxylated flower and the stovetop method, but this technique takes much longer and is a stickier process for infusion.
